On the way to the park near us, I pass a very small tree that this year has sported a compact little nest, that, amazing to me, has hardily endured throughout this wretchedly cold and stormy winter.Adroit is the best word I can think of to describe the bird or birds who built this little architectural wonder. I'm hoping they come back this spring to witness the staying power of their handiwork. It would be so nice to see some birds in this nest.
In other news, even though it's still freakishly cold, spring has still kicked in with the birds: take a look at the Cornell Ornithology Lab's webcam to see the first of the red-tailed hawks hatching their eggs. Really something to see: http://cams.allaboutbirds.org/channel/16/Red-tailed_Hawks/
